Level Overviews

The Level Overview tabs provide hierarchical visibility into spend categories. Each level offers progressively more granular insights, moving from major category groups down to item-level details.

The Level 2 Overview tab focuses on major spend categories beneath the top-level hierarchy. It helps you understand how spend is distributed across key category groups and which categories are growing or declining.

The Level tabs use intelligent auto-filtering to maintain context as you drill down through the taxonomy:

  • Level 2: Auto-filters by the top Level 1 category.
  • Level 3: Auto-filters by top Level 1 and Level 2 categories.
  • Level 4: Auto-filters by top Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 categories.

Note

You can override these auto-filters at any time to explore different category paths manually.

To perform a complete root-cause analysis, follow this logical progression:

  1. Spend Overview: Start here for the big-picture "Top-Down" view.
  2. Level 2: Navigate here to explore major category groups.
  3. Level 3: Drill into this level for sub-category analysis.
  4. Level 4: Validate specific item-level records and SKUs.
  5. Spend Details: Use this tab for final transaction-level confirmation.
