Spend Overview

The Spend Overview tab provides a consolidated view of total organizational spend. It highlights overall trends, major cost drivers, and top contributing categories and vendors. This tab is intended to be the starting point for analysis, helping you quickly identify areas that require further investigation.

This dashboard is designed to answer fundamental organizational questions:

  • Total Spend: What is our aggregate expenditure?
  • Spending Trends: How is spend evolving over time?
  • Cost Drivers: Which specific categories and vendors are driving the highest costs?

To get the most out of this dashboard, follow this logical progression:

  1. Review Summaries: Start by reviewing the total spend summary (KPI) cards.
  2. Analyze Patterns: Examine the trend chart to identify patterns, spikes, or anomalies.
  3. Assess Contributions: Review the lists of top-performing categories and vendors.
  4. Initiate Drill-Down: Click on a specific category or vendor to filter for more details.
  5. Deep Dive: Navigate to the Level 2 Overview for deeper category hierarchy analysis.

  • Date Filters: Use the date range filter to isolate and focus on specific fiscal periods.
  • Auto-Filtering: Click directly on chart elements (bars, slices, or data points) to apply filters to the entire page automatically.
  • Detailed Tooltips: Hover your cursor over any data point on a chart to view a tooltip with exact values and percentages.
