Ask Crafter

Review and Refine Results

The power of Ask Crafter lies in its ability to engage in a continuous analytical dialogue. Rather than running isolated reports, you can build upon previous answers to reach a "root cause" or a specific data point.

🔄 The Iterative Process

1. Submit Query

Once you have typed your question, you press Enter or click the send icon to submit your request. The AI immediately begins processing your classified datasets to generate a response.

2. Review Output

Crafter will return the result, typically in a visual format based on the nature of the question. Depending on what you asked, you may see:

  • Charts: Bar, line, or pie charts for trend and distribution analysis.
  • Tables: Structured rows and columns for detailed record reviews.
  • Lists: Ranked contributors (e.g., "Top 10" lists).
  • KPI Cards: Single-number summaries for metrics like "Total Spend."

3. Refine (Iterative Analysis)

If the results are not specific enough or if they spark a new question, you can type a follow-up prompt to refine the analysis without starting over. Ask Crafter maintains the context of the conversation, understanding that "it" or "that" refers to the data currently on your screen.

💡 Examples

  • Refinement: "Filter that by Q4 2024."
  • Expansion: "Now show me the top 5 vendors within those results."

🛠️ Refinement Techniques

StrategyActionExample Prompt
Drill-DownAsk for more granularity on a specific result."Break this down by sub-category."
Temporal ShiftChange the time period of the current view."Compare this to the previous year."
Format ChangeRequest the data in a different visual style."Show this as a table instead of a bar chart."
FilteringExclude or include specific data points."Exclude intercompany transactions from this view."

💡 Best Practices for Refinement

  • Maintain Context: You don't need to repeat the whole original question. Just state the change you want.
  • Check the Legend: When Crafter returns a chart, hover over the legend or data points to see the exact underlying values.
  • Exporting Results: Once you have reached the desired level of detail, use the export icons to save the chart or table for your reports.

Next Step: Need to start a completely different analysis? Simply click "New Chat" or select a different focus area from the Initiate a Query Guide.
